We have represented clients in international disputes in arbitrations around the world, and in courts in the United States.  Examples include:

  • Arbitrated a case to final award on behalf of the Republic of Turkey in an investment treaty arbitration arising out of a large construction project in Istanbul  (International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, Paris).
  • Arbitrated a case to final award on behalf of the government of Turkey in connection with a dispute arising out of the operating rights to a coal-fired power project (ICC, Geneva, Switzerland).
  • Arbitrated a case to final award on behalf of an independent power producer in a dispute with the Government of Tanzania with respect to the parties’ rights and obligations under a 20-year power purchase agreement (International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes, London).
  • Arbitrated a case to final award on behalf of a fiber optic cable manufacturer involved in a dispute arising out of a joint venture in Brazil (International Centre for Dispute Resolution, New York).
  • Arbitrated a case to final award in a shareholders’ dispute on behalf of the Malaysian majority shareholder of a company with its Tanzanian minority shareholder (London Court of International Arbitration).
  • Arbitrated a case to final award on behalf of an investment bank in a dispute arising out of the financing of a naptha-fired power project in Hyderabad India.  The case was heard in New Delhi under the UNCITRAL Rules.
  • Arbitrated a case to final award on behalf of the European developer of a major real estate development project in Punta, del Este Uruguay (International Centre for Dispute Resolution, New York.)
  • Arbitrated a case to final award involving a software company in a licensing dispute with the Polish National Telephone Company, and enforced the award in London (International Centre for Dispute Resolution, New York.)
  • Arbitrated a case on behalf of a South African investment bank involving a Mozambique hydroelectric project through successful settlement (International Chamber of Commerce, Paris.) 
  • Arbitrated a case on behalf of an optical fiber manufacturer in connection with a dispute arising out of a South American distribution agreement (Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, Stockholm, Sweden).
  • Represented African bank in connection with a dispute arising out of a contract for the purchase of a fleet of helicopters (U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York).
  • Represented U.S. investment bank in litigation arising out of the financing of a Bolivian hydroelectric project (State Court, Minnesota).
  • Represented German bank in litigation arising out of the financing of a Mexican gas pipeline; tried case to successful final judgment (New York Supreme Court, Commercial Part).
  • Represented Chinese textile company in a copyright dispute (U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York).
  • Represented U.S. publisher in a licensing dispute with an Israeli licensor (Civil Court, Tel Aviv, and U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York).
  • Represented Italian manufacturer in litigation arising out of a breach of a distribution agreement (New York Supreme Court, Commercial Part).
  • Represented U.S. investment bank in a dispute with a South African insurance company. (New York Supreme Court, Commercial Part.)
  • Represented Cayman Islands hedge fund liquidator in connection with a fraud case (U.S. District Court, Philadelphia).
  • Represented consortium of Dutch banks and pension funds in a fraud case arising out of U.S. real estate investment (New York Supreme Court Commercial Part).
  • Represented Zambian bank in a case involving a fraudulent check writing scheme (U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York).
  • Represented designer of Tehran International Airport in litigation in connection with a dispute regarding proceeds of funds received in connection with the Algerian Accords (U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York).
  • Represented European developer in litigation arising out of a South American development project (U.S. District Court, Maryland).
  • Represented Indian business in connection with a RICO claim brought by a Dubai company (U.S. District Court, Maryland).
